Lasherry America Codner, also known as Ms. America, was born and raised in Miami, Florida and holds an Associates of Arts in Psychology from Miami Dade Community College. A self-confessed autodidact, she has always believed that education means emancipation for all and has put all her artistic energy into her entrepreneurial talents to advocate for democratic education in the United States of America. Her efforts towards educational freedom and a hyper focus on expression of identity aligns with her life’s purpose.

Lasherry has served as Program Director and Music Educator at Achieve Miami, specializing in Percussive Arts, Mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning. But with a history of working with children across the educational spectrum, she has now written her first e-book, The Family Book of Universal Principles, which is dedicated to the foundation of her childhood and is aimed at bringing families of different cultures together under the ancient symbols of our universal principles.

In her free time, Lasherry enjoys hosting philosophical conversations, teaching others what she has learned, reading history,dancing, creating music, and practicing martial arts.

She has a wide selection of interests that include holistic health, world peace and theology. One of her most treasured experiences was being selected to tour and perform with superstar rapper Nelly, at the 2007 BET Hip-Hop awards, where she was the only high school student from Miami, Florida to achieve such recognition.

Lasherry America’s purpose for the future is to build a sustainable community of diverse thought, through a holistic and democratic approach that champions cross cultural and multi-generational perspectives.
